Public Hearing Notice: Bylaw 2026-03

TOWN OF WAINWRIGHT NOTICE

The Town of Wainwright, in the Province of Alberta, proposes to adopt Bylaw 2026-03 to regulate, control, and manage vehicle traffic within Playground and School Zones on highways located within the Town. The proposed bylaw would establish continuous Playground and School Zone hours from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., seven days a week, each calendar day of the year, for traffic control purposes. During these hours, the maximum speed permitted within Playground and School Zones shall be 30 kilometres per hour. Outside of these designated hours, the maximum speed limit shall be 50 kilometres per hour.

This bylaw will apply to all current School and Playground Zones and will also include the new zones listed below.

School

• 25^th Street (from 6^th to 8^th Avenue)
•  27^th Street (from 6^th to 8^th Avenue)
• 8^th Avenue (from 25^th to 27^th Street)

Playground

• 5^th Avenue (from 6^th to 8^th Street)
• 8^th Street (from 3^rd to 5^th Avenue)
•  Streets adjacent to Peace Memorial Multiplex parking lot, 650 – 2^nd Avenue
• Streets adjacent to Wainwright and District Communiplex, 700- 2^nd Avenue

All streets at the above-mentioned highways will have traffic control devices at the appropriate locations displaying the zones and speed limits.

A Public Hearing will be held in Town Council Chambers (1018 – 2^nd Avenue) at 7:00pm on Tuesday, July 7^th, 2026, where persons claiming to be affected by this change may voice their concerns. Concerns may also be expressed through written submissions mailed or delivered to the Town Office at 1018 – 2^nd Avenue, Wainwright, AB T9W 1R1 Attn: Scott Flett or presented at the public hearing. Written submissions must be received before or at the public hearing in order to be considered. Copies of the proposed Bylaw 2026-03 may be viewed on the Town’s website or at the Town Office during normal business hours.
