Economic Development

Wainwright is open for business! With a strong and diversified economy built on three pillars—agriculture (since the early 1900s), oil and gas (since 1921), and the military (since 1939, serving as the headquarters for army training in Western Canada)—Wainwright offers stability, growth, and promising job prospects.

Entrepreneurs and investors will find exciting opportunities to expand services supporting our energy and agricultural sectors. Strategically located at the intersection of Highways 14 and 41, Wainwright boasts a population of over 12,500 and a trading area reaching 51,500 people, making it a prime destination for commercial and professional service ventures.

With business-friendly regulations, low operating costs, and affordable housing, Wainwright is the ideal place to launch and grow your business. Invest in a community where opportunity meets stability!
