A Message of Support for CFB Wainwright and the Wainwright Community

October 18, 2026

The Town of Wainwright is deeply saddened by the tragic incident involving members of the Canadian Armed Forces community. CFB Wainwright is an important part of our community, and the military members, civilian staff, and families connected to the base are more than partners, they are our neighbours, friends, and valued members of the Wainwright area.

We send our thoughts and prayers to those directly impacted, their loved ones, and everyone affected by this incident.

We are deeply grateful for the outpouring of support during this incident. We want to thank the first responders, fire departments, Canadian Armed Forces personnel, Wainwright Health Centre and healthcare teams, municipal staff, partner agencies and neighbouring jurisdictions and volunteers who have stepped forward to assist.

The Town of Wainwright will continue to support CFB Wainwright, the MD of Wainwright and our community as we move forward together. We encourage residents to rely on official sources for information and to keep those affected in their thoughts. ❤️
