The Wainwright Fire & Rescue Department is a well-trained volunteer department comprised of 29 members who are responsible for the provision of fire protection services, fire prevention programs and rescue services.

These dedicated members of the Department respond to incidents twenty-four hours per day from their homes or work. Although classed as volunteers, these men and women are extensively trained through in-house instruction and by attendance at fire etc.

Criminal Record - Requirements
- Reside within the M.D. of Wainwright jurisdiction
- Current photo ID
- Alberta Health Care card or Birth Certificate
- Volunteer must provide letter from organization stating this is a volunteer position

Motor Vehicle Collision - Reporting requirements
- Full report with damage over $2000, damage sticker for under $2000
- Driver must attend detachment
- Required documents - drivers license, registration and insurance
- Date, time, location and specific occurrence details must be provided
